Creative Bloc Planned for Downtown Baton Rouge

February 8, 2013

(Baton Rouge, LA) – The development of the Creative Bloc, a collaborative work environment for independent, visual media professionals, has been announced by John E. Jackson, Executive Producer/President of Launch Media, an award winning Baton Rouge-based video production company. Creative Bloc will be located at the corner of Main & Eighth Streets, downtown Baton Rouge, in 11,500 square feet of buildings recently acquired from Bob Dean by Jackson Group Investments, an affiliate company of Launch Media.

The Creative Bloc, the consolidated structure formerly comprised of four historic retail stores on Main Street anchored by O’Neal’s Music Store, will serve as the headquarters for Launch Media. In addition, space will be available for lease to established creative businesses and entrepreneurs specialized in the areas of video, film, photography, graphic arts, and app development. On-site resources will include a fully equipped video and sound production studio, post-production suites, media server and work and office spaces.

“In the past year, the growth of Launch Media’s business has required ease of access to a broad array of talented, visual media professionals. Having a visual and audio centric bloc will allow for collaboration and the sharing of resources,” stated Jackson. He continued, “The availability of the property with a structure ideally suited for a production facility with the benefit of historic tax credits was optimal. This opportunity, combined with the fact that downtown Baton Rouge continues to attract young creative professionals for both work and play, made for the perfect incentives to take this step in the growth of our business.”
